El lugar de la virtud cívica en el ordenamiento social y educativo

El artículo se sitúa en uno de los puntos más álgidos del debate pedagógico contemporáneo que emerge de las tensiones entre dos tradiciones de pensamiento ético-político: la liberal y la republicana. Desde ahí, la autora ofrece una reflexión en relación con el contenido de la educación cívica. En el borde de las coordenadas del debate entre liberales y republicanos la autora reconoce la importancia de la virtud cívica en el ordenamiento de la vida social y la tarea que, en razón de dicha importancia, corresponde a la educación. Cuestiona, sin embargo, algunos de los presupuestos que están en la base de la prescripción republicana de formar ciudadanos virtuosos y discute algunas de las derivaciones que la concepción positiva de la libertad impone en relación con la universalidad de los derechos humanos.

BETWEEN LIBERALISM AND REPUBLICANISM
The place of civic virtue in social and educational order

The article is located in one of the most algid points in the contemporary pedagogic debate that emerges between two of the tensions traditions of ethical-political thought: the liberal and the republican. From there, the author offers a reflection in connection with the content of the civic education. In the border of the coordinates of the debate between liberal and republican the author recognizes the importance of the civic virtue in the classification of the social life and the task that, in reason of this importance, corresponds to the education. It questions, however, some of the basic ideas that are in the base of the republican prescription of forming virtuous citizens and some of the derivations that the positive conception of the freedom imposes in connection with the universality of the human rights discusses.
