Pensamiento social y sociología del trabajo en América Latina

El autor aborda el análisis de la crisis del pensamiento latinoamericano de las décadas de los ochenta y noventa con el auge del neoliberalismo, al mismo tiempo que evalúa la pertinencia de una rearticulación crítica de dicho pensamiento con las ciencias sociales en general y, en particular, con la sociología del trabajo en América Latina. Señala que una de las consecuencias, en lo que respecta a la sociología del trabajo y a la teoría de la clase obrera y del trabajo asalariado, es la de ir desplazando el objeto de estudio, centrado en esa clase y en los fenómenos del mundo del trabajo, por otro que pretende reivindicar el estudio sociológico centrado en los sujetos y los movimientos sociales dentro de una concepción típicamente funcionalista, descriptiva y unidimensional. Afirma que la nueva sociología del trabajo tiene que estructurarse dialécticamente en el marco de un proceso global epistemológico que gire en torno a la dinámica de reproducción del capital y de las relaciones sociales e institucionales que determinan el mundo del trabajo y sus múltiples contradicciones.

Social thinking and sociology of work in Latin America

The author addresses the crisis in American thinking in the 80’s and 90’s as a result of the neoliberal boom; concurrently analyzing the appropriateness of a critical restatement of this thinking from the viewpoint of social sciences in general and, particularly, of the sociology of work in Latin America. He asserts that one of the consequences regarding work sociology and the theory of the working class and wage-earning work is to gradually shift the subject of study to target this class and the developments in the work environment for a different one, that attempts to reinvindicate the sociological study targeted on subjects and social movements within a typically functionalistic, descriptive, unidimensional conception. He proposes that the new work sociology should be structured dialectically within the framework of a global de epistemiological process that pivots on the dynamics of the reproduction of capital and on those social and institutional relations that determine the work world and its multiple contradictions.
