Un nuevo enfoque sobre la reconstrucción
del pasado

Los instrumentos que utilizó la memoria indígena para transmitir sus mensajes fueron muy variados: la sencillez del lenguaje oral, la belleza plástica del lenguaje del cuerpo, las luces y las sombras de la arquitectura, el sonido de la música y sus cantos. A través de estos medios llegaron hasta nosotros los ritos, las tradiciones y la historia de una cultura milenaria, y así hemos podido descubrir los ríos profundos que transportan los valores de seres humanos distintos a nosotros, pero nunca ajenos a nuestro origen. En las culturas mesoamericanas, los lenguajes corporales, orales y visuales fueron los primeros transmisores de las experiencias colectivas, y la forma más eficaz de heredar los conocimientos para asegurar la sobrevivencia del grupo. El lenguaje escrito, de uso restringido, operó como organizador de los mensajes transmitidos por otros medios.

The instruments used by the indigenous memory to transmit its messages were quite varied: the simplicity of oral language, the plastic beauty of body language, the lights and shadows of architecture, the sound of music, and chants. It was through these media that the rites, traditions, and history of a millenary culture have reached us and thus we have been able to discover the deep currents that entrain the values of human beings that are different from us but in no way alien to our roots. In the Mesoamerican cultures, body, oral, and visual languages were the first to transmit collective experiences, and the best way to pass on knowledge that will ensure the group’s survival. Written language, hardly used, operated as organizer for the messages that were transmitted through other media.
