Zapatismo y renovación de la
izquierda latinoamericana

En este artículo se analiza el proyecto político y la estrategia del Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional en el contexto de la hegemonía neoliberal y de la renovación de la izquierda latinoamericana. Se examinan las características de su discurso y se presentan algunas de las ideas centrales de su propuesta de transformación de las relaciones políticas. El autor sostiene que el mandar obedeciendo, la autonomía y el poder de la sociedad civil forman el núcleo de su propuesta alternativa que posibilita una política revolucionaria capaz de combinar dos temporalidades de lucha (cotidianas y utópicas). A partir de ello, se plantea que el zapatismo se destaca dentro de las organizaciones de la izquierda latinoamericana por su capacidad de enfrentar la hegemonía neoliberal al retomar ideas impuestas por la misma y rearticularlas hacia significados alternativos. Todo ello se acompaña de una estrategia creativa que ha buscado movilizar a sectores de la sociedad civil como factor determinante para cambiar la correlación de fuerzas en el conflicto con el gobierno federal.

This article analyzes the political project and strategy of the Zapatist National Liberation Army within the context of Neo-liberal hegemony and a renewed Latin American left wing. The features of its discourse are examined and a few central ideas of its proposal for the transformation of political relations are discussed. The author asserts that concurrent command and obedience, autonomy, and the power of civil society are at the core of the proposed alternative; which in turn allows for a revolutionary policy capable of combining two temporalities of the struggle (everyday and Utopian). Starting from this point, he asserts that Zapatism is a spearhead among Latin American leftist organizations on account of its ability to challenge the Neo-liberal hegemony by re-addressing the ideas that it imposed and restating them in a pursuit of alternative meanings. All this is accompanied by a creative strategy that has pursued the mobilization of sectors in the civil society as a determinant factor to change the correlation of forces in the conflict with the federal government.
