El objetivo de este artículo es presentar el concepto de infraestructura como una herramienta para comprender cómo se organizan los flujos que componen un espacio social transfronterizo. El concepto surgió del proceso de investigación para dar cuenta de los medios y las diversas formas de organización que facilitan la movilidad de personas y circulación de objetos en la frontera. En este texto se discute la pertinencia de conceptos como transnacionalismo y redes sociales para abordar los flujos transfronterizos; se alude a la sociología de las movilidades como el marco teórico adecuado para el concepto de infraestructuras, y se hace una tipología de las mismas. En la reflexión final se insiste en que el uso de las infraestructuras es una expresión de las desigualdades espaciales.

CROSS-BORDER INFRASTRUCTURES
A concept for their analysis

The goal of this article is to illustrate the concept of infrastructure as a tool to understand how the flows that make up a social cross-border space work. The concept arose from the research process to account for the means and the different organization ways that facilitate people mobility and object circulation through the border. This text covers the relevance of concepts such as transnationalism and social networks to approach cross-border flows. The sociology of mobility is referred to as the appropriate theoretical framework for the concept of infrastructures, elaborating a typology of the same. Our final thoughts insist on the fact that the use of infrastructures is an expression of spatial inequality.
