Las relaciones entre orden social y estructura espacial prevalecientes en la India rural son examinadas a la luz del concepto de “espacio vivido”. La “inmersión cultural” en una aldea de la India central permitió explorar el aspecto simbólico del patrón de residencia resultante de relaciones sociales jerárquicas, así como los significados que para sus habitantes tienen los límites y fronteras territoriales definidos por el sistema de parentesco, hacia dentro y fuera
de la aldea. El espacio aldeano y regional es vivido por sus habitantes como un espacio familiar de fronteras y límites flexibles, en el que la identidad, múltiple y relacional, está sujeta a negociación.

Hierarchy, family and relationship in the rural India

The relationships between social order and prevalent space structure in the rural India are examined under the light of the “space lived” concept. The “cultural immersion” in a village of the central India allowed to explore the patterns of residence resulting from hierarchical social relationships, as well as the meanings that the limits and territorial boundaries defined by the relation having by their inhabitants, either into the village or outgoing the village. The village and regional space is lived by their inhabitants as a family space with borderlines and flexible limits, where the multiple and relational identity is subject to negotiation.
