LA LÓGICA DEL JUEGO

La noción de campo en la perspectiva
de Pierre Bourdieu

El concepto de campo es central en la perspectiva de Pierre Bourdieu, en la medida en que permite construir el espacio de juego donde se insertan las prácticas sociales que son analizadas. Su verdadero valor está asociado a una problemática de investigación concreta. Las características esenciales de su construcción son: la puesta en marcha de un pensamiento relacional, que pone el acento en las relaciones y no en las sustancias, y la incorporación de la dimensión histórica. Ambas características implican consecuencias metodológicas que deben tenerse en cuenta a la hora de abordar la realidad social.
Asumiendo la analogía con el juego, se analiza la génesis del campo, las propiedades generales y lo que allí se juega, la dinámica de ese juego y su relación con el espacio social global, y se señalan las principales dimensiones metodológicas que supone, aludiendo a sus posibilidades heurísticas.

From Pierre Bourdieu’s viewpoint, the concept of field is central because allows to build the play space where the social practices under analysis are imbedded. Its true value is associated with the issue of concrete research. The essential features of its construction are: to start a relational thought where relations—rather than substances—are emphasized, and the incorporation of the historical dimension. Both features involve methodological consequences that must be considered at the time of approaching social reality. Assuming the analogy with the play, the author analyzes the genesis of field, its general properties, and what sort of play is taking place there; as well as the dynamics of this play and its relation with the overall social space, highlighting the involved main methodological approaches alluding to its heuristic possibilities.
